I really wanted to start a fitness/nutrition blog but realized how much time it would take… My first priority is school so I decided a long post would suffice for now :) Some day!
2012 was the craziest/busiest/most sleep deprived year of my life! But I am here to tell you that it IS possible! This year I decided to start going to church regularly and a RC (small group with church) regularly, crossfit (4-6 times a week), became mostly paleo (cheat meals happen :P), on top of being a full time Interior design major. Its true, I had many sleepless nights and went to crossfit even if that meant I would only get 5 hours of sleep. I stayed in on Friday nights so I could wake up for crossfit on Saturday mornings if I had to skip a few days because of project deadlines. I stayed in and cooked for 12 hours straight so I could have enough food to freeze/eat during my hell weeks. Failure to plan is planing to fail! If you’re looking for some crazy secret diet/work out I don’t have it for you because it is no secret! All it really is eating clean and training dirty. I am so blessed/thankful that I was able to start crossfit with Free Range CrossFitthis July.
I am a firm believer that nutrition is 80% if not more of it! I know I know, paleo sounds CRAZY (Veggies, meat, nuts, and fruit) but it forces you to eat clean and realize how amazing your body can feel! Its okay to have cheat meals as long as you’re eating clean 90% of the time. I didn’t become paleo over night, I slowly transitioned by cutting things out one at a time. So just start by saying I won’t drink soda starting this week, then it could be I’ll stop eating _____ regularly, ect. Maybe paleo isn’t for you but I know that processed foods aren’t good for anyone! (read your ingredients and look them up… ) I’m not going to lie it was HARD, I fell into temptation many times, and I had more break downs mentally this year then I ever had! But just because theres a bump on the road doesn’t mean you don’t keep moving forward. One of my favorite quotes is “If it doesn’t challenge you it doesn’t change you” Do your research and set goals (not deadlines) and achieve them! Understand that you are a work in progress and things aren’t going to happen over night. Have fun with it, learn what you like to do and do it! Before this year I had been trying to lose weight for 7 years or so! But this time around the main difference was my longing to be healthier in stead of skinner. It is just as much of a mental battle as it is physical. I think thats the one of the things that made me successful this time. Understand that you need to make a LIFESTYLE change its not a diet! This is my life now! “If its important to you, do it everyday”
Here are some awesome websites that have seriously helped me tremendously this year!
Here are just a few that I use there are hundreds out there! If you crave something I’m positive there is a healthy recipe out there that tastes just as good if not better! (Trust me so many paleo deserts out there!)
And because I believe that there are many different ways to reach the same destination… and I want you all to be successful and healthy even if you’re not paleo! http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/ is a great resource to use if you are looking to cut out processed foods!
Lastly, I also prayed more this year than I did in my entire life because of how crazy it was! Philippians 4:13. All of my success is for the glory of God because he is the best part of me! Have a great year everyone! I am a busy girl during the school year but I am more than happy to answer any questions anyone might have! :)
